‘Hatch’ is a ceiling pendant created from eggshell waste which is created every day in large amounts by egg consumption worldwide.
Despite their fragility, eggshells are extremely thin & strong with a semi-permeable structure and unique light permeability properties. Each lighting pendant is created from around 60 eggshells, collected from homes and local bakeries.
Known as ‘nature’s ceramic’, the extremely thin eggshell pieces are delicately arranged by hand & bonded with resin to create the light diffuser. Suspended by three fine cables, the semi-translucent eggshells provide a unique light scattering effect when illuminated.

Javits Center: Launchpad
A staple in the US, Launch Pad at WantedDesign Manhattan presented with media partner Design Milk and sponsored by American Standard, is an outstanding international platform for emerging designers that introduces new concepts and showcases prototypes of furniture, home accessories, and lighting. The program was launched in 2013 and since then has become the best place during NYCxDESIGN for manufacturers to meet new designers, discover fresh ideas and potential products to develop. Launch Pad has contributed too many success stories, creating connections and projects that went beyond the participants’ expectations, confirming the need for this original program. The two categories 'Furniture/Home Accessories,' and 'Lighting' feature international design studios and independent designers. A Jury will award a recognition per category to the standout product that meets the highest level of concept, creativity, and design.
