This September, Studio Yellowdot will participate in the Lake Como Design Festival, presenting Tattile—a 3D-printed daybed lounge—as part of the Contemporary Design Selection, curated by Giovanna Massoni under the theme “Confine – Borders.”
Taking place from 12–20 September 2024 at Villa Saporiti in Como, the festival explores borders not simply as dividing lines, but as places of encounter, transition, and transformation. The theme considers how boundaries can separate while simultaneously creating opportunities for exchange and new possibilities.
Tattile: Between Digital and Physical
Tattile explores a similar territory between seemingly opposing conditions: technology and touch, digital fabrication and physical experience, precision and organic form.
Developed by Studio Yellowdot as part of the Edible Reveries project for ARTISIA, Tattile investigates how advanced 3D-printing technology can be translated into an object designed around the human body. Its flowing, continuous form challenges conventional approaches to furniture construction, creating a lounge that feels both digitally generated and naturally grown.
The daybed is produced through large-scale 3D printing as a single, continuous structure, demonstrating how emerging fabrication technologies can move beyond traditional manufacturing constraints. Rather than hiding the technology behind the finished object, Tattile makes its method of production part of its visual and tactile identity.
A Border as a Point of Connection
For Studio Yellowdot, Tattile reflects the idea of the border as a zone of transformation. It sits between furniture and sculpture, structure and softness, machine and hand, while inviting the body to become part of the experience.
Its surface and contours are designed to encourage touch and movement, turning the boundary between object and user into something fluid. The piece does not simply define a space for sitting or reclining; it creates a moment of pause where the physical and digital worlds meet.
Presented within the historic setting of Villa Saporiti, Tattile will become part of a broader dialogue between contemporary design, architecture, technology, and the cultural history of Lake Como.

The Lake Como Design Festival brings together designers, galleries, institutions, and cultural voices across the city and its historic architectural spaces. The 2024 edition’s Contemporary Design Selection looks at the many meanings of borders, examining them as lines of division, meeting points, and spaces where transformation can occur.
For Studio Yellowdot, the invitation offers an opportunity to present Tattile within this context—where a new approach to digital fabrication encounters a historic architectural environment, and where an object conceived through technology becomes an experience grounded in human touch.
