Following up on the DX tour to California, Bodin Hon from Yellowdot was featured in SCMP to share his experience from the trip.
Bodin Hon of Yellowdot Design, who specialises in product design and retail concepts, enjoyed the visits to leading Silicon Valley startups and entrepreneurial companies. The culture of creativity and design thinking would inspire his work, he said.
“It is not either the physical world or the virtual world, but it is more about how we can merge the two worlds together,” he said.
About HKDC DX Tour - California 2019:
The Design Exchange Tour (DX Tour) was organised by the Hong Kong Design Center was successfully held from 14 to 22 September in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Twelve emerging Hong Kong designers were selected to join a nine-day inspiration trip enriched with exchange opportunities as well as study visits that emphasise how design is responding to technology shifts in an ever more connected society. The DX Tour aims to reinforce HKDC’s mission of establishing Hong Kong as a creative hub of design excellence in Asia, through expanding the global vision of emerging local designers and cultivating their aspirations for producing designs with international impact.
The events and companies the designers visited include “Co-creating Hong Kong” exhibition, the thematic session at the “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” conference, Autodesk Gallery, IDEO, Oculus, Whipsaw, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Portals XR, Southern California Institute of Architecture, and Virtue (the creative agency by VICE), etc.
