The exhibition is part of the 'Art><Creativity' program which brings together a pair of Hong Kong artists & designers to use the Greater Bay Area as a source of inspiration for an exhibition series. Set in an old Hakka rice wine-making factory in Huizhou, the artist (Ray Chan) and designer team (Yellowdot) drew their inspirations from traditional Hakka culture and the technology-driven industry of the region to create works that reflect on the co-existence of innovation and tradition.

Yellowdot reimagined a family of classical Chinese furniture for a traditional family dining hall setting using a new additive manufacturing technique to highlight the compatibility between technical innovation and the preservation and advancement of traditional culture. Artist Ray Chan traced Hakka traditions and discovered common features between Hakka wine-making and the firing of ceramics. Combining the two methods in a newly created ceramic chicken wine and wine vessel collection.

For thousands of years, the Hakka people migrated southward in stages. Although they resettled in their new-found homes, the name "Hakka," which in Chinese means "visiting group," remained unchanged. The Hakkas dispersed and came together depending on the period; as long as there was cohesion among the group, the feeling of "home" always stayed with them. This exhibition is held in Huizhou, a place that has retained a rich Hakka culture. Through artistic creation, the exhibition aims to inspire the audience to feel the warmth of "home" despite the age-old designation of Hakkas as "visitors" in migration and dispersal. The exhibition was co-organized by the Art Promotion Office under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Hong Kong Designers Association.
